Good toys for 5 month old?

DD will be 5 months a Christmas what sort of toys should I be getting her, that are fun but will help her develop her skills?

Right now she mainly bashes the hell out of her babygym an chews on comfort blankets with rattling teddies attached and colourful/moveable teething toys.

So can I have some inspiration please what were/are your 5 month old DC's playing with?

I'm not buying my DD much - she is 4.5 months but that's because she is baby 4 and won't notice whereas the older DC will if their stockings are lacking!

I will buy her some socks bits and bobs for her stocking which will include some Lamaze bits, Manhatten stuuf (whoozit) and Tiny Love arch toys as she loves the one she has.

I can recommend the Ikea frog glove puppet which we stumbled upon accidentally the other day in store! Will be great for when she gets to peekaboo age.

you could invest in toys for the 9-12 month stage, so rocking toy or similar. We may do this.

Ohh thanks for the suggestions, having a look at the Lamaze and Tiny Love sites now

She loves peekaboo now! Giggles her head off when she is startled funnily enough I picked up a hand puppet in John Lewis a few days ago but then put it down, doh!

I was looking at something along the lines of something which will strengthen her legs that isn't a walker. She is desperately trying to stand herself up when sitting on my knee facing me, so something which she could bounce up and down in would be good!

stacking cups, stacking cups and more stacking cups.

love them. can do lots of things with them my dd (now 2) has had a few sets from being about 4/5 months. started with just knocking them over then building then hiding objects undernieth. she even has a set in the bath (they have holes in them to run water through) and i use them for washing hair etc.. very reasonably priced too.
