Moving a toddler into his own room ... finally!

My 21 mth old son has always been our room with us because we only live in a two bedroom flat and because my mother in law stayed with us to help with childcare so naturally she got the spare room. Now that he is in nursery and MIL doesn't come to stay with us in the week anymore, we can finally get him in his own room.

But he has also started to climb out of his cot so it'll be 2 changes for him ... new bed, new room.

Does anyone have any tips to make the transition easier?

our son had his own room for the first time around his 1st birthday but around his second birthday we moved again and thought that 1 big change would work better, and it did! he had new room, and a big boys bed. we have a gate up at his door so he can play before bed if he chooses and we also took him shopping for his own bed sheets etc. his bedtime routine has changed quite abit but it works. to begin with he would fall asleep on floor playing, but then we would have an extra story and it worked a treat x
