Sleep / Eating / Tantrums - 2 year old

Hello their everyone - just writing to get some guidance / advice for my little treasure (also know as pickle - dd)!!!!!!

I have several queries, sorry!!!!

Sleep
This time a year ago my daugher would sleep like an angel 7 - 7, recently she insists on getting up on average between 5 and 5.30 am. I have tried:

  • not allowing day time nap
  • putting to bed later
  • late snack incase hungry
  • blacking out windows etc but nothing makes a difference The only difference in taking away the day time nap is that she goes to sleep quicker at night? Any words of wisdom? If I dont get her up she goes mad, if I bring her into our bed, she goes mad!!!!

Food
She recently has got picky at food and likes to snack throughout the day rather than big meals. Could this just be her? She eats tons of raisins and lots of fruit? Any advice?

Tantrums
The tantrums are getting huge!!! The other day she threw a massive tantrum whilst out. I let her get on with in in the buggy but a WOMAN in the shop told me I was doing wrong!! I know I was doing the right thing, letting dd get it out of her system but now worry!!!

Any advice would be appreciated. I am unsure if there is anything I can do with all of the above but DS who is now 5 did nothing like these EVER!!!

From a very tired Mummy

Not able to advise but just thought I'd message to say i'm experiencing the same issues with my second ds, also 2 years. I think the eating and sleep thing is just something to get through. Similarly the tantrums. Our eldest ds had very few tantrums but ds 2 has loads and loads- daily ones, plus is quite aggressive, particularly towards his older bro- hitting and nipping.

Today we had a friend to visit with a 9 month old crawling baby. DS was walking past him and deliberately standing on him and sitting on him! don't know what to do with him.

I can't offer any advice either but also have the same issues!

My DS is 3 in two weeks. Always throwing tantrums, I dread to think what the neighbours think.

And when you are out, I hate it when people comment, I think you did the right thing letting your DS get on with it.

Totally have same sleep thing too, waking at 5/5.30. The only thing that now works is dropping the day sleep but DS still waking between 6-6.30 now at best!

Thank you for your comments - it is comforting to hear that other Mums have the samw challenges!!!!

Oh my goodness, my daughter is exactly the same! She's 2 in feb and an absolute nightmare right now. A woman on the bus told me she needed 'a good hiding' the other day....

if anyone's still following this thread, i'm in the same place now...have things improved at all for anyone? i'm hoping it's a phase that doesn't last long, but fear not..! i'm finding this stage harder than newborn, it's exhausting and only bearable as they are cute with it

at woman on bus YoungMummy2

dd is 2.6 and very placid up until about a month ago bar the odd melt down here and there ... wants everything now, is constantly hungry but very very picky about what she eats, still doesn't sleep through the night but much improved (except last night when she was up for 2 hours grrrr) despite having dropped her nap when she was 2, started to hit (me rather than other children) when she gets frustrated/can't communicate something to me clearly

had thought that I'd got off lightly esp when looking at her peers .... looks like she might just be a bit of a late developer in asserting herself - gawd knows what's going to happen when she goes to nursery for a couple of hours a week in January ... learning from all those other children .....arrgggh
