Totally normal, I have DS didn't start talking at all until well over 18mo. He's now almost 2 and has a vocab of hundreds of words.

If you're worried, speak to your HV, but I don't think it's anything to be concerned about, not yet at least

Usually children are just starting to begin to put words together from around 18 months onwards (i.e. only some will be able to do it) 'mummy coat' 'Jamie shoes' etc etc but it depends what you mean by not talking - do you mean she has no words at all and just points at stuff or do you mean she is not speaking in sentences - or is she somewhere in the middle?

It sounds like your ds is a good talker - sometimes 2nd children do start a bit later because they have an older sibling who does all the talking for them!

The main thing is, does she understand you when you talk to her - if the answer is yes then the words will probably come in time but if she's still not doing it by 2 then you need to get her referred to a SLT. If you are not 100% sure now, then you should ask your GP or HV to refer her to a speech therapist for assessment and there is sometimes quite a long wait.

Thank you for your messages, I am not that worried because she knows what she wants and understands what i am saying to her, its just frustating!! i will wait a bit longer and see what happens, thanx again .
