My 4do ds gets attacks of hiccups. Is there anything I can do to help him? atm I've got him propped up on my lap and am rubbing his back. Any other suggestions?
Thanks.

Thanks. I just put him back on the breast which seems to have stopped it for now.

My DS always had hiccups - I was assured that they are completely unbothered by them, so I wouldn't worry too much. He went on to develop silent reflux, so just keep an eye on it.

Congratulations

My DD, now 5 months, still gets regular hiccups. She was hiccuppy inside me, and nothing changed once she got out. Doesn't bother her at all though.

My DS had lots of hiccups when tiny - he ended up developing silent reflux too, so definately keep an eye on it. Keep him upright after feeds - it should help. I don't think the hiccups bother them.

Congratulations!

Another one with hiccups and reflux here. DD is now 19 months and does not have much trouble with reflux anymore but still gets hiccups a few times each day. They don't seem to bother her though.

For the first few months, a bf did seem to stop them.

Some babies do get hiccups without reflux, so don't be too worried about it. However, reflux often gets worse at about 3 weeks old. So if you do suspect a problem about then (constant crying, fussy feeding) do consider reflux.

Thanks for all the advice. I'll keep an eye on the reflux too.
