nighttime potty training how do you know when shes ready?

my dd is 4.3 she has been dry reliably during the day for nearly 2 years apart from a blip when she started nursery.
she wakes in the morning with a wet nappy
we tried her for the last couple of nights and she has wet twice both nights so I'm presuming shes not ready yet. I don't want to pressure her to early and make her stressed out about it.

how will I know when to start training her during the night? what are the signs?

Did she get upset when she wet herself on those 2 occasions? If she does, then she will learn quickly.

Once dd (then 2.7) was reliably dry during the day (after 1 week), I just took her nappy off at night as well. I think there were accidents for about a week, then only a handful of times thereafter over a long period. Use lots of those pampers mats to line the mattress and be prepared for laundry.

Not sure about signs. Was told by my SIL just to press ahead!

I waited till my lo's had try morning nappies for a while and then stopped with the night-time one. DD asked not to wear a nappy when she was just over the age of 3 and ds was out of them by 2 1/2. Both had been dry in the morning for a few weeks though. You cant really train for nighttime as they have no control when they are asleep. They have to be able to wake up when their bladder is full and/or be producing a hormone that suppresses urine production overnight. If you take the nappies away before they are able to do the above then you are unlikely to have dry nights and you just set yourself up for a lot of washing and disturbance in the middle of the night.

We started putting my ds on the potty when we went to bed (around 10pm) as we found that she kept waking in the early hours and we thought it may have been bacause she needed a wee. Since doing this she is generally dry in the morning. She now wears pull ups so she can get out of bed for a wee in the morning too. We're not confident enough to drop the pull ups yet. It may be worth a thought as it's been working for us. She is nearly 3.

We took my DD out of nappies at night at the beginning of the week (she is 3.2) usually had very wet nappies over night but for two nights in a row last weekend she was dry in the morning we just went for it with puppy pads (inco pads) under her sheet and a potty right by the bed with he hall light on all night so she could see if she needed to get up.

About 5 nights in so far and she has been dry with a wee in the potty every night, we don't get her up in the night have just left her to it.

No real advice other than I would agree your DD is just not ready yet, does she have drinks just before bed? Do you encourage her to do a wee just before she goes into bed?

thanks for all your advice

we have encouraged her to do a wee before bed and taken away her bedtime drinks. Last night we also woke her to wee at around 11 and she still wet in the night. I think I'm going to leave it for a bit longer and see how she goes as I would hate for her to feel bad when she wets if its not her fault.

Age four is really quite old to be wearing a nappy at night time.

I don't know about your situation now, but you really do need to at least try a couple of months after daytime potty training.

Granted, some kids can take a while to be dry at night. I remember from childhood my sister was seen as particularly "slow", although in reality this meant she was out of night time nappies at three and a bit. About right for daytime training according to many MN posters!

Shows how times have changed I guess.

I waited til we had dry nappies in the mornings. Also DD said at about the same time she didn't need a nappy at night time any more. Only ever had about 2 wet beds.
