When to move from cot to bed?

DS is 19 months and wondering when to move him to a bed. He seems perfectly happy in his gro bag and cot but DS2 is due in March and will need the cot for him so wondering when to introduce DS to a proper bed and duvet etc and was wondering if Christmas when I am off work would be a good time - he will be 20 months. He is old enough for a duvet and pillow? Sure I read somewhere that they shouldn't have pillowqs under 2? What's the general rule on this?

Ds was in a bed with pillow at 13 months, was an early starter.DD otoh was 3.5 before the transition (Has sn and still has bedrail thingy).Go with your instincts. If you feel it is the right time go with it.FWIW ds had a pillow before 2 and dd at around 2.Both still here to tell the tale.

DD is 26months and we are about to make the transition in the next couple of weeks.

Hello, Grobag do these things which are like duvets which zip up at the side so it's a bit like being in a big sleeping bag - designed for transition to 'big' bed. Or you could try turning the duvet sideways. I would just use a cot pillow for a while as 19 months still quite small. Use a bed rail as it really helps them feel enclosed like they are in a cot.

On the advice of someone from here, DD has these on her bed. She moved from her cot to a full sized single bed as soon as she turned 2. I think as well as helping her from falling out of her bed, these also are a big comfort for her too.

I recently shared a double bed with DD and had not appreciated just how much she moves around in the night - several times I woke to find her nearly kicking herself off the side of the bed, and had to pull her back She has never fallen out of her bed at home, so the tubes definitely work!
