Dd is 17 mo and for the last few days has refused to nap in the day. Before this she was napping at 10am for 2 hours each day.

Im 30 weeks pg with dc2 and really need a nap too - Please tell me its just a phase and she will happily nap tomorrow....

My DD stopped having her daytime nap at 14 months but my nephew will still have a daytime nap now if he can and he is 3 and a half so hope for you that it is just a phase.........

DS is nearly 18 months, and naps most days for 1.5 - 2 hours when at home, some days only for 40 mins (mostly if we are out and about in his pushchair - think he is more comfy in his cot!)... On the odd occasion he has not napped at all.

Timing has changed tho... used to be 10.30 onwards... now we have an early lunch and more likely 12.30 onwards.

Maybe your LO wants to nap later? Good luck...

I think they often go through phases where they refuse to nap, but I'd hang in there (maybe alter the time to after lunch?).

Mine stopped at 3, although some days I swear he could still do with one!

DD was 18 months and hasn't needed it since then. I agree with trying it later in the day. Also my dd will sometimes have a 'quiet hour' in her cot with some toys and books. Could you try that?

ilovetochat · 16/11/2009 21:01

dd 2.4 naps have got later and later to 2pm for 2 hours. last week she didnt nap thurs, fri or sat but each day i put her in the cot for a rest and then sun and today she napped again so keep trying.

DD2 had to have her nap time changed from morning to afternoon at around 18 months, she is 2.2 now and still has a 2 hour nap although I am noticing it means she goes to bed later. I sometimes don't put her down during the day if we are busy or out and by 5pm she is on her last legs. I would say change her nap time to after lunch and see if she will go down then. Good luck with the pregnancy! 2 under 2 isn't as bad as everyone says!

mama2moo · 16/11/2009 21:06

Thanks. I did wonder about changing it to later but we have found that giving her an afternoon sleep means she wakes very early in the mornings!!

I will see what happens this week and will give her an afternoon nap on Friday - Dp gets up with her on Saturdays!!

Thanks fannybanjo - I am beginning to worry about 2 under 2 now that its getting close!

I was just about to ask the exact same question!
My DS just turned 2 but definitely seeing a difference about naps. Just getting later, like 2pm, and if he falls asleep in carseat I used to be able to transfer him straight to bed, but now he will wake up and 20minutes will be enough. he can still nap for 2 hours, but he has only just gone to sleep after putting him down at 8. so thinking he needs to cut down.
hoping its just a phase for you so you can get some rest!! good luck!

DS1 stopped at about 2 1/2.

DS2 is 17 months and we wake him after 2 hours!

Hi,

DD is 24 months and still sleeps for up to two hours in the day. She has a 'window' though - it has to start after lunch between 12.30pm and 1.30pm or else she is under/overtired and really fights it, or skips it altogether. I'm pregnant too and sympathise with the need for a nap!
