DS wetting himself at school

ds2 in reception and since he started this problem seems to be gradually getting worse - 3 times this week!

The thing is he doesn't tell anyone so then is in wet clothes for the rest of the time, unless teacher/TA notices.

Have spoken to his teacher and she has spoken to him several times to remind him that he can ask to go to the toilet. She also is trying to keep an eye on him but I appreciate this is difficult with a class of nearly 30!

I think he probably is so involved in an activity he forgets to go and then it is too late - but I don't understand the reluctance to then tell someone so he can get into some dry clothes! When he was a bit younger if he ever had an accident he HATED being in wet clothes.

Think I may try a star chart? Anyone got any other ideas/experiences please?

Come on I know it was a bit of a ramble but any thoughts anyone?

Thanks.

Oh God - he wet himself twice today! Teacher getting a bit annoyed now and so am I!

She is reminding him to go as well, but then he just sits there and does it.

Oh dear! My ds was a bit like that. Don't know what to suggest really, he grew out of it in the end.

I honestly don't think this is that unusual - ds started wetting himself again after 2.5 years of being fry when he was in reception. His best mate hardly seemed to wee in the toilet for the first term

If you do a search in old threads, you'll find lots of threads with toilet regression - in fact, I'm surprised the teacher is being unsympathetic, tbh.

I think with ds's mate, they decided to have set times, where he always went to the loo, regardless of whether he thought he wanted to.

Have you talked to him about it?

cornsilkwearscorsets · 25/11/2009 23:09

Yes set times a good idea. Shame teacher is getting cross with him.

does he have a problem with the toilets?

ds1 very, very ogften comes home absolutely busting to go (luckily for him he can hold it in for a long time)
when questioned it turns out he doesn't like the toilets there because they smell, and i think he is a bit wary of the urinals too, he is a sitting-down boy at home.

nmot sure what, if anything, we can do about it but might it be a similar thing for your ds?

Interesting, my ds was wet twice last week. He's in P1. Last accident was about 2 yrs ago. It really took me by surprise...

Thanks for replies.

Teacher has/is being really helpful actually but I think twice today just tested her patience especially as she had asked him if he wanted to go!

He has said to me he doesn't like going on his own which she is aware of.

The silly thing is that yesterday he had no accidents.

I have promised him a lollipop tomorrow if he stays dry so we will see what happens.

I used to bribe my ds with matchbox cars!

merlin · 25/11/2009 23:28

Could get expensive cornsilk!
