star charts, when do you stop?

Just started a star chart with dd1, 4, to stop using the dummy during the day and it's working brilliantly, as we've had no tantrums at all all week and she's teh first to put away the dummy as soon as she wakes up and won't ask for it again until evening.
So far so good...now, all the books mention star charts etc, but they never say how do you stop them once the behaviour has been enforced and you don't really need incentives anymore?

Will she just forget about her weekly treat? How dod you do it?

We succesfully did a star chart to stop dd endlessly coming downstairs after bedtime. When she had gone straight to bed 5 nights in a row (after about 3 weeks) we went to get an extra special present (the lifting bridge for Tesco train track!) because she was "a very good big girl now and didn't need stickers anymore".

i find sticker charts last about 3 weeks then the novelty wears off but by then i have corrected the behaviour we had a chart for.My children still respond to sticker charts, they are nearly 8 and 6.

we progressed to using points - dd collects points for being good etc. and then the points translate to money to buy something a bit like pocket money it seems to be working well and if she is naughty etc. points get deducted

thanks for the ideas, we'er still on week no 2, ans she's already forgetting about her stars, but, to my delight, about the dummy too!!

I can't believe how easy it has been, and I was draeding it so much!!
