Nappy changing NIGHTMARE

My DD 10.5 months has learned to crawl and pull up in the last month and a half. The result is she's not keen to lie on her back to have her nappy changed. She's also teething so have had a few days of exploding poos plus rolling over and running off while I'm trying to sort it!!

I have tried distraction and have now run out of safe/unusual objects in my cupboards to entertain her. I've tried letting her run off for a while once she's poo free and then puting the new nappy on in a few minutes. Puting the nappy on sitting up, and finally pinning her between my legs which works but we have (understandably) hysterical screaming which stops as soon as she's released. Only use this when all else has failed.

I'm worried about the forcing route but sometimes needs must - will this make nappy changing a long term headache or will it be one anyway??

Any thoughts on how best to tackle this??

i agree with the others it is a phase and it will pass. my ds is 2.5 now and mostly lies still why i change him but was a nightmare too from about 1 to 2ish. My "technique" if you could call it that was distraction, I gave him a toy, put on telly, sang - you name it, i did it. I also only changed him when absolutely necessary, so if in hurry (school run or whatever) i left him in the nappy he had on.
With his increasing age , it did get easier and now he sometimes asks me to change his nappy by lying on floor and saying "poo" which is much easier.
I think you just have to grin and bear it for now, try not to make it too much of a battle for both of you as it really won't go on forever! (just feels that way)

Pull-ups.

I posted on this topic once and was reduced to tears laughing at on MNer who said she sang loudly 'if your happy and you know it clap your hands' whilst her baby tried every trick in the book to escape screaming at the top of its lungs in shear temper. I think she said it was the irony of the song that kept her sane.

Try pull up nappies then they don't have to lie down for long. Good luck!
