not weightbearing yet - ideas?

Should I be at all concerned that my (almost) 13month old won't take any weight on her legs? She sits, but hasn't tried to crawl, and can only rollover if I put her on her back. She won't put her legs down for anything. She weighs about 25lb and is on the 99% for height. All my others crawled around 11 months. Anyone else with a similar tale?

my ds was completely disinterested in everything for ages. was about 13 months when started crawling and just over 18mths when walking. he is completely fine in every other way, just stubborn and lazy!
and a friend of mine had a daughter who did this very strange sort of leapfrogging for ages - she would sit with her legs sort of crossed and then propel herself across the floor putting all her weight on her arms. she went for a million tests to various specialist and infuriatingly for her very concerned mother just got up and walked completely normally at 19 months, never actually crawled. so keep an eye on her, but it may just be that you have a little thing with a very strong personality and fixed ideas!

ds1 crawled at 7mo and walked at 12

ds2 didn't crawl at all and walked at 15mo

dd is 9mo and prefers to 'bum shuffle' rather than crawl.

I don't think that you have any major need to panic here just because she hasn't followed in her siblings developmental pattern. I assume that there have been no hip or joint problems highlighted in previous GP/HV checks ?

My dd wasn't interested in crawling or anything apart from sitting and looking at books, toys, etc... She never liked being on her front so didn't roll over. When she was 18 months we did some tests (scan and MRI) which didn't show anything, but she never had strong legs. The neuropaediatrician concluded that it's just one of these things, there's no explanation for it apart that she is extremely flexible, which makes it hard sometimes to start walking and do things such as holding pencils. The french paediatrician we had seen before suggested that physio might help, so I got that through my english GP here, and this fantastic aussie child physio came to our house for one hour a week to get dd to do some exercises to stimulate her to start using her legs. She also gave me some simple exercises to do during the week. This really worked for us and dd walked just before her second birthday. She's nearly 4 now and has nearly caught up with her friends re. mobility. Don't know if this would work for you, might be worth asking? In any case, I'm sure it will work out for you, but if you're really worried like I was, then ask to see a paediatrician. Good luck

Thanks to everyone: I think I will wait until 15 months like Sobernow and then review it as french girl says. Thanks for all the advice!

I was wondering about starting a bottom shuffling thread, but it sort of fits here.
Dd1 - bum shuffled at 11 mo, walked at 13 mo. Now 6 and a star at ballet.
Ds1 - crawled at 10 mo, walked at 13 mo
Dd2 - crawled at 11 mo, walked on her knees (yes, really - she looked like a Dalek if she was wearing a long skirt or dress!) at 13 mo, walked properly at 17 mo, now 2 and running everywhere.
Ds2 - bottom shuffled at 11 mo, now nearly 14 mo, and has today started taking his weight on his feet for the first time. Until now all he has done when trying to pull himself up is achieve a sort of vertical yoga position. And if you try to put him down on his feet he just bends at the hips and waits until his bum hits the floor!
I think if Ds2 was my first I would be more worried, but as it is I'm just resigned to having another late walker and having to lug him around for a few more months. But I saw something about bottom shuffling and dyslexia.. Dd1 has no problems there though.
But does anyone have any ideas for how to speed things up a bit for a bottom shuffler?

Jmb no advice, but I had 2 who knee walked too. Plus one who bum shuffled but he was actually an earlier walker than the knee ones. It does look amusing though doesn't it?!
