When did your DD's start their periods?

Mine are 9 and seem to be developing fast. Periods may be imminent. It just seems very young (or maybe I'm just old).

its about 7 stone i think, unlike me dd is tall and lanky

DD was 11 and in Year 6. Some of her friends had started before then.

DD1 is 14.6, DD2 is 12.2 and neither has started yet. I don't think DD1 will be long, but who knows?

My dd is 15 and 3 months. Nothing yet! I was a late starter tho, so maybe why? Should I take her to docs?

She is very envious of her friends,but we are starting to wonder what's happening

dd is 13 and still waiting. she only started to develop about 6 mths ago so im not surprised.

thats interesting about 7 stone though, I think dd is about 6 stone, but maybe heavier now.. shes been in a grow bag over the summer.

A week before her 14th birthday. She was the last in her class (but was totally not bothered) . She is very slim so I'm wondering about the weight thing too.

DD was only about 6.5stone but very tall thin and curvy. From what I can gather it's supposed to be a percentage of body fat rather than an actually weight.

10 and in Yr 5. Highly embarrassing as she had been having lots of urine infections with bleeding and we were on a monitoring programme for possible blood disorders which involved taking her up to the hospital whenever she had an infection. So I took her up- and the nice handsome young male doctor pointed out what should have been pretty obvious, that she was rather well developed

ILoveTiffany - I think 15 is the last age before you need to see a doctor, ie: go at 16 if nothing by then.

thanks snorkie. we were wondering but didn't want to make it a problem. she's very tall and slim too. her sister is 13 and alot chunkier at the same height,so think she'll be first,which won't go well!

My DD, is 12.8 and weighs 7.5 stone but has not started yet. It seems to be about 50/50 amongst her Y8 friends (some have, some haven't but it tends to be the skinny, flat-chested girls who haven't), so I think my DD will definitely start soon - I remember being in the equivalent of Y7 when I started.

my DD is 9 and has "buds" and fine under arm hair, though no periods yet. I fully expect its imminent though and she soooo isnt ready for it

Is 7stone a reliable benchmark? I've heard about that but wasn't sure if it was the deciding factor.

Such a shame little girls seems to be getting to this stage younger nowadays. Is that to do with a better nourished therefore maybe heavier generation?

DD was 11 and in Yr 6 (she started 3 months ago), although she had started to develop the year before.

The weight thing rings a bell too.

should add that it's not always a problem at 16 either (I think up to 18 can be normal), but 16 is when they like to start looking in case there's an underlying reason.

Very slim, tall (and over 7 stone) DD was 1 month shy of 16. They were going to do some tests if she got to 16.5. I think the BMI may come into play here too.

My DD started on Boxing Day when she 11.5. Too young I think, but you can't change natures course. I was surprised because I was later than that by at least a year.

I teach Yr6 and always have at least 2 who have started before they leave to go to secondary. It has always been the tallest girls, but not necessarily the heaviest.

DD was 11 and in yr6, very slim but developed every where else and her periods have been every month since then.

My mum was nearly 17 and I was just barely 11, so I don't think it's genetic.

This is interesting.

I had an alarming (for me) chat to a pal the other day about her DD who has pubic hair and most of her pals do too.

Friend was surprised that DS1 has nothing but I said, oh, errr boys are later aren't they?

Both kids are in yr 6 btw, so 10.

Alarmed at idea of DD who is 8 starting with it all before she leaves primary. I realise that some do of course, but I was 13. I think the age yr mother starts has sthg to do with it.

DD weights about 3.5 stone so if 7 stone thin gis true we could be a while
