DS pronouncing his 'f's as 'th's - should I correct him?

This is a recent development. My DS is almost 6 and at the early stages of reading - is this relevant?

He does it mostly when speaking as opposed to reading.

Has he lost any teeth? Sometimes 'f' is hard without front teeth.

No mathanxiety, he still has all his baby teeth. He has up until now been total fine with both of these sounds.

Does someone in school pronounce it this way?

My DS is 2 and pronounces all 'th's as 'f's

This bothers me because DH does the same (although he tries really hard not to around DS) and he gets the mickey taken out of him at work for it.

From what I've read, some kids don't get 'th' and 'f' until 6 or 7. Maybe if it's a developmental milestone, he's just playing with the new sounds?

If you carry on using the sounds correctly, he may get bored and go back?

I did this when I was a kid, I got confused because the majority of children at my school pronounced 'th' as 'f' and I couldn't remember which words were meant to be 'th' and which were meant to be 'f'. Could this be a factor, especially since he is reading it correctly?

Thanks for the ideas ladies

It developed over the summer so it's not from school (or anyone else)

I'm hoping it is a developmental/experimental phase.
