my 18 month boy doesnt walk yet. i think thats partly because of a vertical talus that he had which was resolved through a very minor surgery (but which left him in a cast on one leg for a couple of months). strangely his foot doctor thinks that shouldnt delay walking.

He does NOT use his hands to eat anything; he doesnt speak yet (rarely says one word or two but always willing to communicate through a series of "eee's" and "o's". he will walk around a table once he is holding it for support. he will cry at mention of the work "milk" when he is hungry and recognises a couple of other words which are meant to encourage play. he races around the house in his walker but not too keen on walking if you hold his hand and encourage him. and he does not wave. Views pls? does anyone know of other children at the same stage with this behavior pattern?

any other advice/tips gratefully received. waiting for a neurologist to come back to town for an initial consult but thats a week away and need to talk about this!

many thanks

Will your ds pick up finger food to eat?

What does your GP say? Is the neurologist the only referral you've had? ie: developmental pediatrician ... ?

Have no experience of much of your thread, but DS didn't walk until he was 20 months. He did the kind of supported walking you mentioned but was also a tremendous commando crawler and could go quite fast. IT was def about confidence, but also that he clearly felt he didn't need to. Always felt the lack of siblings may have played a part too, he wasn't watching others at home all the time thinking he'd copy/keep up with them. Folklore seems to suggest boys often walk later too.

Good luck with everything.
