oops! talking shte. I shall slip away... or do explain moondog* is it not to do with similar tongue position?

It seems similar in that all in the mouth (!) but for a start, one is technically a vowel and the other an affricate [mix of a sound known as a 'stop' and a 'fricative'. A blend of 'd' and 'zzzh' if you like.
'y' also uses back of tongue and 'j' the front.

All sounds fit into logical categories and with most speech difficulties, the child has basically made up his own [perfectly logical] set of rules which are uncovered by SALT and reordered. It really is most fascinating. Ever thoguht of training as a SALT Bar.Quite a few assts. do.

I see!

So totally fascinating. I would love to be a SALT - would be my dream job. Have worked a lot with young adults with learning difficulties in education - as a communication instructor and doing 1:1 slt following a program set up by the slt and then before i left to have my baby i worked with a young lady with downs in a secondary school, helping her to access the curriculum and following her slt program.

It would be a long road to embark on - i don't have a degree or even maths gcse but i know i am bright and could do it. I did start an access course with a view to getting started on the slt path but i couldn't afford it in the end.

anyway thanks for putting me straight moondog and sorry to ramble on fbg

I am pleased it is nothing to worry about.

Is that the case even without any other problems?
