My 3 year olds night-crying beyond a joke!

My son who's 3 next week, is my baby until next month when i am due my 4th child. Every night since he was 14 months old he has cried each night and i believe he is so used to it, that it has become quite a habit and his body is used to waking up each night for a good old cry for no apparent reason. However, with child no 4 coming i can well do without the toddler waking the baby each night unnecessarily. plus i dont fancy having both of them in my bed at the same time as my 3rd born gets jealous. I am always willing to challenge anything that comes into my life. This one is a test and half! anyone have any suggestions please!

How often does he wake, for how long? What have you tried so far? My dd2 was 3 last week and we've had this pretty much for the last 18ms. However dd1 sleeps like a log so it is "only" me she wakes. It is alot better now though. I think at it's worst, waking 10-12 times a night, with hindsight, it was because she was unsettled, dh had been away with work for a month, then returned with MIL, then went on 2 holidays within 6 weeks etc, etc. As soon as life got back to a more settled routine, things got easier. That is she'd only wake once or twice. Since Xmas she's slept better still but can often wake at 5/5.30!

I have to confess I do use Medised for a couple of nights if I feel we're spiaralling into a bad routine, and that usually settles things down again. An old hv used to say it takes 2 nights to make a routine and 2 nights to break it! And this does seem true of my dd2. We've also used homeopathic remedies which have definitely helped.Good luck, I know how all consuming it can be.

thanks for advice. my son only wakes for about half an hour but this is long enough and he is so loud when he cries.my house is so warm i have the window open and my street is so quiet, i know my neighbours can hear him and have commented on his incredibly LOUD VOCALS. (bless him!)
I have tried blackmailing him and he has fallen for some of them but he will soon get wise to this.oh well...lol... i guess he will grow out of it!
