My kids can not behave in public.

DS1, DD and DS2 messed about in the vets. There for 15 minutes.

DD and DS2 behaving badly in the car.

DS2 and DD behaving badly at the dentist.

I asked them to sit nicely, quietly, etc etc etc

I am sick and tired of them showing me up in public and just bloody well not doing as they are told.

After the vet, DS1 was an angel.

Well, I haven't got depression and my childhood wasn't great but not that bad and I scream like a harpy at my 2 boys (almost exactly 2 years apart), I never realised pre-DC how utterly wearing they can be.
I often wonder what the neighbours think as they must hear me shouting or see me carrying my 3 yr old over my shoulder with no shoes/coat on as he won't get ready for the school/CM run.

hey, stop knockin yourself....you are a fab mum!!!

I don't ever remember going to the dentists at the same time as my siblings. I expect this was good planning on my mother's behalf!

Would they sit quietly and listen if you read them the book? This is what I usually do in waiting rooms.
Of course that doesn't work when you are in the dentist's chair!

FabulousBakerGirl · 10/06/2009 19:42

Wouldn't really help as no one to have the other 2 while one has their check up but good idea for some no doubt.

oh god, yes, the dentist 'treat'

tis pure torture, and that is before the dentist even calls any of us in!!

bigchris · 10/06/2009 19:45

well the 2 eldest must be at school so you could take one of them at a time while the others are at school?
does your youngest go to playgroup?

FabulousBakerGirl · 10/06/2009 19:47

Er, no I couldn't.

They are not missing school when it isn't necessary and I have enough to do without 3 visits.

if it is anything like my dentist, they like all the family to go in on one big appointment, rather than staggered.

makes for some looks tho when 7 of us turn up, with me hyperventilating thru the fear of the dentist, and the worry about the boys behaviour....

last appointment, DS2 climbed up the wall to the velux window and tried to peer out.....problem is, as it is set into the roof (the dentist is upstairs in like a loft conversion), he then thought he could climb out to sit on the roof.

heart failure is not quite the problem the dentist is used to dealing with I am sure!

I have found this book which sounds rather harsh but is in fact quite sensible if you read to the end immensely helpful.

bigchris · 10/06/2009 19:54

lol
does sound like a pita taking them all separately

eandh · 10/06/2009 20:38

am going to pop to the library in my lunch hour friday to see if they have that book

FabulousBakerGirl · 10/06/2009 21:07

Yes. I have that book. Remembering to do the counting would be good as it does work a lot of the time.

You have to go through a hellish few weeks while they work out that you mean it (and then when they behave a bit nicer, so you lapse a bit then they realise you've lapsed and start acting up again you have to have anohter hellish week!) But worth it for the feeling of saying "ONE" and seeing behaviour change is amazing.
