At a loss with how to occupy or stop 18mo from hurting herself???

My 18 month old DD is driving me insane. I know she is just testing out the world and everything in it, but how on earth do i stop from doing dangerous things??

This morning alone she manage to climb up onto a reasonably high table and get the phone base and wrap the cord several times around her neck and pull...! I was only in the next room washing up so caught her quickly.

Then she managed to get in to the bathroom open the toilet seat lock and get in head first!

She also throws herself off of furniture onto our hard floors. I can't remove everything out of the room or there would be nowhere to sit!

I have tried to childproof everything, but she just figures it out. I can't do anything for a minute without her doing something that will hurt herself.

What can i do to occupy her when i need to do things? She has so many toys and when i try and play with her she doesn't really want to know.

I know she doesn't set out to push these limits but i just can't find anything she likes that's not dangerous!

She's in her cot at the moment, so i could go and pull my hair out in peace!

Any advice?

i know the feeling - my 18mo can be similar. i would advise a little supervised teaching of consequences - ie. let her take a few little bumps to make her recognise that some things are dangerous and that she needs to listen to you when you tell her no

I've let DD slide off a few chairs when i could have caught her, when i know she'll get a shock more than actually hurt herself, of course.

in terms of things to occupy her - DD is absolutely in love with stickers and sticker books. maybe worth a try. keeps her quiet for a good 15-20 mins at a stretch. and out of mischief
