Hello

Can anyone give me some tips on how to get my DS who is 2.5 to eat. He only eats some foods and any time i try to get him to try some thing new he refuses. He will eat crackerbreads, some bread, ham, cheese, fruit, pasta. It depends. The thing is I am so fed up of giving him something and then him not eating it. Do you all give another choice if they refuse? Do you give it later if they don't eat in the hope they will be starving for the next meal. I am really at a loss and need your advise.

Thanks

My sympathies I don't have this cracked by any means but I have been in the same position a thousand times over and the best thing I can advise it not to stress over it.

At one point my DD was eating pasta with pesto every single day because that is the only thing she would eat.

She's now 5 and a bit and i'm now of the opinion that I make one meal for us all and if she chooses not to eat it then I don't make anything else. I do always make sure there is at least one thing within the meal that she will eat.

Some kids just don't like new things and it's completely a head thing, even if I can get DD to try something new she nearly always says she doesn't like it (even if I know she does!!)

I think its a control thing. Good luck gal x

I always put a few different things on their plate for them to try and always including something they like. I always eat the same thing next to them as they seem to be very much in to copying at this age. If they eat they eat and if they don't they don't....

Also - if you're worried, you could always offer toast or a 'safe' thing at least an hour after dinner.

Classic age to become suspicious of food though!

thanks girls. I am alot chilled out since I posted this. i have tried just to let him eat what he wants and not to cook/offer another option and he is getting on fine.
