How to play with 4.5 month old baby boy?

Hello,

I have the above child, and feel instinctively that as well as the usual interaction you have with a baby, he requires more rough and tumble than did DD. DH is naturally very good with this, picking DS up and rubbing him against his shaved head, pretending to let him fall (he's in no danger!) etc, all good fun and DS loves it and squeals. I'm doing the usual Mum stuff of keeping DS amused while getting on with keeping the house ticking over and whereas this more or less worked with DD, DS gives me the impression of being bored or wanting a great deal more physical contact.

How do other people play with or amuse baby boys? He can roll when he feels like it, can't sit up or crawl, but he's massive - 20lbs, so a sling is out of the question! I don't think he'd like it anyway as he likes his physical freedom.

I'm really not trying to start a girls v boys debate, just looking for some suggestions! Thanks.

DD is very rough and tumbly! I wasn;t really ure what to do either!

Peek a boo - but instead of just revealing yourself we used to grap feet, legs etc....

Someone suggested to us shoving a duvet on the floor and having them roll around the kitchen while I chatted and occasionally tickled her!

Sure start lady suggested a feely / treasure box - box/bag with touchy feely things in. We found pound shop was great: crinkly fabric, soft cloth to swish on their body, pine cones/knoblby thing to feel.... etc etc
That was cool untill dd became terrified of crinkly material....

Other than that I still find rough and tumble is better with dad. My arms are poorly anyway so she was not as caried as perhaps other kids are....
