Does a heart-shaped tongue usually indicate tongue-tie?

I'm just wondering - my DS is 15mo and has quite a definate heart-shaped tongue. We did have some feeding issues but when I brought it up with my HV she didnt bother to explore it as he was able to stick his tongue out over his bottom lip.

Now he's starting to try and talk i'm just wondering if there is anything i should look out for - i.e. how does a tongue-tie effect a child's speech?

I dont have any particular concerns btw, he doesnt really have any words but babbles contendly and tries to copy sounds (although they do always come out as the same noise, iykwim, just different intonation).

It would just be interesting to hear anyone's experience of this.

Thanks

Yes heart-shaped tongue = tongue-tie. Won't necessarily lead to feeding or speech problems. Does lead to licking-an-ice-cream-without-dribbling-everywhere problems . Can be snipped easily as day surgery case.

My DS had his snipped at 4 weeks to help with bFing and he had a definite heart-shape. Sounds likely, although probably not a large tie if you had slight feeding difficulties, HV's have wildly different views on the matter so don't be scared to ask for second and 3rd opinions and read up on the current research (Guy at Southampton is the main one-I forget his name).
The Specialist midwife that did DS's said that if they were going to stretch/snap it is usually around the 12-14mth mark.
FWIW I do know someone who has a DS with this (4yo now) and it has only affected certain parts of his speech, certain sounds he makes differently etc, not speech delayed though.
