Have noticed a horrible smell in DS2's room. Thought he'd wet the bed and hadn't said so washed everything, scrubbed mattress down etc. Could still smell it. Pulled bed out and could have cried Lots and lots of wee down side of bed, all over wall, skirting board, all over the toys that were under the bed. The smell was horrendous, he has obviously been doing it for a while. He moved into the room about 3 months ago and never did it in his other room (in fact he has been dry at night since he was 2 years old!).

I cleaned everything up, had a word with him and he clearly doesn't know he's doing it.

Been in there this morning and he's been doing it again

The room smells so bad, I have dettol'd everything but it just won't go. I hate the thought of DS's sleeping in there but I don't know what to do?

Any ideas firstly on how I can get this terrible smell out of the carpet and wallpaper, and also how I can help DS2 to stop doing this?

Am really sad

He must actually pull his PJ's down and aim down the side of the bed.

You think he is doing it in his sleep? Like sleep-walking?
I don't know what you can do but maybe put him in nappies till he grows out of this phase?
Or wake him up to go to the loo before you go to bed?

anxiousmumto3 · 15/05/2009 10:47

Yes, like sleep walking but not actually leaving his bed. His PJ's aren't wet so he must actually be pulling them down. He hasn't a clue what I'm talking about when I ask him about it, he thinks I'm joking!

I mentioned nappies but he got really upset so I don't really want to do that. I think I might wake him up to go to the toilet before bed. Thank you SM.

Do not use anything amonia based to clean it up. This will just add to the smell.

Try white vinegar & warm water, in a spray bottle. Blot the are to get any excess up, then soak with the water & vinegar, blot up, repeat etc.

No thoughts of how to prevent it tho, I am afraid. I guess even if you put a nappy on hi in his sleep he will try & remove it, as he seems to be removing his pjs...

biological washing powder cleans up wee fantastically, the biological part dissolves the enzymes or something. Alternatively a pet accident carpet cleaner?

Hope you sort it soon. Sorry can't offer you any better advice
