Foot/walking trouble in 2yo - anyone?

My dd is 2y2mo and ever since she learned to stand she has put all her weight on the inside of her foot, down the side from big toe to heal, and her little toes hardly touch the ground.

Thought she would grow out of it once walking/in shoes, but she hasn't, and now her ankles are starting to point inwards and so are her big toes.

Saw HV who is referring to a podiatrist (don't know how long it will take) - but want to do something useful in the meantime - anyone had anything similar?

Do you think changing shoes will help? She has always worn clarks but they are quiet soft/shaped at the bottom.

Anyone seen a peadiatric podiatrist before? What do they do?

Thanks!!

we saw a physio for dd2 when she was 20 months, and hadn't started walking, bearing weight etc. When she tried to stand her feet curved out, so that the soles of her feet almost pointed outwards.

She recommended putting her in solid, more grown up shoes, because her ligaments haven't strengthened up yet. We bought some really solid boys shoes, she started walking pretty soon afterwards.

Obviously this was individual to our dd, so whether wearing more solid shoes would make a difference, I don't know, but I guess, as she is wearing shoes and walking already, it might be an idea to try some more solid shoes.

Thanks Hazey, I'm going to buy some more grown-up shoes - like you mentioned - as I think you are right that I will help her out. I guess it should force her feet to go flatter on the ground.

She didn't crawl until after her 1st b'day and didn't start to walk until about 16 months, so sounds like they have quite similar issues. She's caught up now though! An no other developmental issues apart from this feet thing

I'm it will be easily sorted - it just breaks my heart to see her lovely little feet starting to become mishapen so early in her life hopefully we have caught it early enough that they will straighten out on their own with no harm done.
