Ds1 has lost his first tooth - how much do you leave under the pillow?

A whole £1 per tooth in this house.

But I do believe some fairies are even more generous.

TigerFeet · 11/05/2009 10:48

Two of dd's friends have just lost their first teeth.

One got a fiver (although it may have been extra because it was her first)

The other got £2

Needless to say we'll be going for the lower end of that spectrum...

It was 10p when I was a kid!

Ripeberry · 11/05/2009 10:48

Maybe i'm being a bit over generous, but i give £1 as it looks like gold and first teeth are precious like gold.

Jazzicatz · 11/05/2009 10:49

Really???

DD got £1 last night - usually it is 50p but didn't have anything smaller - bloody hope she doesn't expect that everytime now!

stripeypineapple · 11/05/2009 10:51

£1 from this tooth fairy.

stealthsquiggle · 11/05/2009 10:54

£1 here as well - although DS was more thrilled with the note she left on collection when she was very busy and forgot to pick up his tooth on the first attempt

PortoPandemico · 11/05/2009 10:54

For dd's first a few weeks ago she got 10 euros (didn't have any change!). The 2nd one fell out on Saturday. For that she got 2 euros. I'm sticking with that one. Though in Belgium it's not a fairy but a mouse!

TsarChasm · 11/05/2009 10:54

£1.

Tooth fairy here now collects from a little pot outside the door due to a rather heartstopping moment one night when dd sat up abruptly in bed just as the TF was doing her thing.

We froze - looked at each other. Then she went back to sleep (I don't think she was fully awake actually).

TF was rooted to the spot in the middle of the room, tooth in one hand, £1 in the other, not sure whether to abort mission or continue. TF's dh outside was being no help as usual and in muffled hysterics.

Jazzicatz · 11/05/2009 10:55

Aaaaahhhh a note thats a good idea!

Tsar I think the TF is going to have to introduce that methodology here when DD gets to the appropriate age - she is a v. light sleeper (as opposed to DS - TF could probably help herself to the teeth still in his mouth without him waking up!)

Blottedcopybook · 11/05/2009 11:53

£2 here, purely because DS was on holiday in Florida with his Dad when his first tooth fell out and the American tooth fairy gave him $5! I think 50p for a wee tooth and £1 for a big one seems fair though?

LRB978 · 11/05/2009 12:07

Another one with £1. DS now on tooth 8.... am refusing to count the cost by the end.

LoneStranger · 11/05/2009 12:29

DD helpfully informed me that her tooth was about to fall out so that I could call the TF to make sure she had enough money.

When I asked how much money she thought the TF might need, she said "a £2 COIN and tell her that if she hasnt got change I will leave £3 under my pillow and the TF can leave a £5 note!"

Little Madam, wouldnt surprise me if she had a paypal account set up for these occasions.

EvenBetaDad · 11/05/2009 12:35

£1 for a small tooth and £2 for a back one.
