DS is 2 next week, I still keep it on all the time he's asleep. DP thinks I'm a freak and that no normal person would still have it on.

He said "go ask your freaky mates what they think" (that'll be you lot then )

Our DD is just over 2 and we have a small house but i leave it on still because TBH i love to hear her chattering away to herself when she goes to bed! Plus she'd have to really wake up and scream if she wanted us in the night whereas the monitor picks up when she stirs and loses her blanki or something - easily rectified without waking toddler fully! Ideal!

It doesn't have to be a 'paranoia' thing just a comfort or a nice way to 'spy' on their funny ways!

Don't worry xx

Don't use it overnight just when she in bed and I'm downstairs as won't hear her over tv/radio. TBH I ahve a video one and I love that i can see her whenever i want, i certainly don't sit there looking at her all night (anymore!) but certainly meant i haven't had to go in when i heard noises cause i could see she was ok iyswim.

Don't see what the problem is if it makes you happy it certainly won't bother them one way or another

We never got one, we live on one floor so dd never too far away, we shut both bedroom doors at night and I've always heard her if she cries/is ill. I think your subconsious "mummy alert" is much better than you think. DD has never been very wakeful or fussy about sleeping arrangements, don't know if this is just her personality or if its because I've not been dashing into her for every cough or whine. Even now I only go in if she shouts mummy or daddy, most things she settles herself again quickly.

Perhaps if you're curious about giving up the monitor, you could try just one night without, or if thats a bit cold turkeyish you could progressively turn it down a notch every day or week til its not worth having on anymore? Up to you, if you want to listen in till they're 18 whos to stop you?

DS is only 4.5 months but already told discussed with DH that we will use the babysense (breathing/movement) till he is in his own bed. The room to room monitor will be reviewed at a later date

Didn't use baby monitors with either of my 2
And they both went straight into their own rooms when we got back from the hospital too.

never used one. The dds can make themselves heard far too well when they want to through quite a few floors even with snoring world champion dh.
I'd never sleep if I had a monitor I think.

used one for one week and got fed up with it very quickly. just another thing to gather gust, really. we just hid them away. as others have said, babies can be heard very clearly in a house (average size). the crying gets to me even now and I wake very quickly when hearing it. definately no need for a monitor!IMO
