Bedtime windown for 5y old DS

Any experienced Mums please advise, DS is just 5 in reception and just do esnt chill out in the hour before bed like he used to and DD(2.6)does. He used watch the 2nd half of the bedtime hour (we skip ITNG) on cbeebies then have 2 or three stories with us before bed. He now finds cbeebies boring, his 7y old cousin taught himto press the red button so always wants to play the games, not a good idea before bed IMO. He do esn't want a story (I think Kipper, Biff and co have turned him off books)So he ends upplaying with hislego whilst DD has stories then has 20 mins with me or DH then bed (730ish). Keeping him calm is very difficult he wants to do space rockets and getsv. excited whilst playing.Of corse this means he finds it difficult to then go to sleep.
I think he is becoming overtired, but I don't know what we can do to help him calm down prior to bedtime.
Any ideas or thoughts would be great thanks

A bath sometimes helps, as does warm milk (it has a mild sedative effect). Could you use a large clock, attach tags for home time from school, then tea time, homework time, bath time etc?

Sometimes sport in the evening's makes them sleepy.

Thanks,
He has a bath 3 nights a week, not keen on warm milk but has milk whilst playing every night.

Routines is:
315-finish school, snack
4:00 swim (mon),playdate(tues),park (weds&Fri,if fine) gym class (thurs)
5:30 Home, tea
6:00Bath or change, into pjs, washface and hands.
19:00 Upstairs milk quiet time.
I think he gets enough sport hard to see howwe could fit more in realy

Yup.

My ds was a bad sleeper, it turned out he'd sleep so well he hadn't realised how much time had passed

Reception' exciting, the red button isn't a great idea to help him wind down though, I know myself that I don't get tired until very late if I'm playing a game on here . Could you limit it to a very short game early in the evening /play space rockets whilst you are cooking so he still has time to wind down?

Think I am going to ban the red button after tea so he can play for 15-20 mins when we first get in, but after bath its quiet time so can watch the bedtime hour or play quietly.I am thinking I could leave dd watching C&L whilst i played with him upstairs, then maybe he would let me read him a story if it wasn't an either/or situation.
