Need advice on my 3 year old behaviour towards his 12 month old brother...

Ok so my 3 year old has recently (the last 2 months) starting to push my DS2 over. DS2 was walking from 10 months and this has been going on since he has been walking.

I try really really hard to make sure I spend equal time with both of them and to make sure DS1 is not pushed out. But recently he is becoming uncontrolable. He;

Answers back with things that I say to him (eg Thats not kind so dont do that please)

Pushes over his brother hundreds of times a day (DS2 is constantly crying where his head has been banged on the floor/wall.

Completely ignores me when I ask him to come to me.

Laughs when I tell him off (i try very hard not to shout at him, but sometimes I have and he does listen then!)

I have tried time-out (he sits on the stairs), I have tried taking away his favourite toys but I really dont know what else to do!!! I also praise him lots when he does good things. (especially when he plays nicely with his brother)

But im stuck and I don't believe in smacking him at all, I just need some tips/advice on where to go from here please!! Thanks!

I think your right about DS1 feeling threatened. I think your idea for aiming the words at DS1 but talking to DS2 is brilliant too!! I'm going to try that tomorrow, it will definately make DS1 stop and think about his actions. I have also just been on Amazon and ordered that book, was only 1p!!! (ok so £2.75 p+p) but still. I'm not sure the peice of paper thing will work but I will give it a go...

Thanks for your advice. I hope it works! . I also agree that things like this should be dealt with. I really want them to grow up with a good friendship as well as a brother relationship. We've only got the 2 boys (and thats it for us). I have always told DS1 that his brother will look after him and he will look after his brother. I also tell him that they should be best mates (not sure if this is a good idea or not) .
