got 21 month old who walks ok, does not "run", but trips a lot and cant come down steps etc yet or over doorframes etc

when roughly would you expect them to be more confident?

also my little one on the side has a tendency to throw himself at you when playing and forgets there is a floor etc...just becomes a mass of jelly...and falls to floor..not seen any other toddler do this...does yours?

many injuries sustained this way...today hubb went to get him - he threw hinmself to sit and then threw himself even further to floor banging head on tarmar straight on the back!

How long has your ds been walking?

IME its a couple of months before they're completely steady on their puns.

my 19mo ds is totally obsessed with stairs every time we see them when we are out we have to go up and down them.............5 times.............or more...........

does your lo get much chance to practice on them?

A couple of months after they start walking I would say usually. But like everything else, some babies/children take longer to master skills than others.

Its probably also good to remember that there are a significant number of babies aren't even walking yet at 21 months. I wouldn't worry yet, but maybe mention it to a HCP just to get their advice.

Agree with moocowme aswell. Does your ds get plenty of opportunity to practice going over obstacles/climbing stairs/running? For example, a child who goes on a trampoline every day will generally learn to jump sooner than a child who never gets the opportunity, iyswim.
