Help my 4yr old has turned into a bitter!

My DD2 has always been even tempered and not even had that many tantrums, but within the space of a few weeks she has bitten her sister aged almost 7yrs old and today when she was getting exited about something and was cuddling my leg she sank her teeth into the top of my leg!
Luckily i had jeans on but it still hurt like hell!
She was put into time out straight away and she said sorry for bitting me.
I just think its a phase she is going through but i'm worried she might start bitting her friends at pre-school.
I've mentioned it to the pre-school leader and they will keep an eye on it.
Has anyone had this problem with their 4+yr olds becoming bitters all of a sudden ?

Ripeberry my 4 year old ds used to be really even tempered and in the last few weeks has turned into the devil child

He bites, kicks, throws and hits anything in site over nothing these days

searching this site, and talking to others I am under the impression its normal around 4.. its seemingly due to a burst of testosterone (sp?)

I will watch this thread with interest

Hiya,

Not sure if this will be terribly PC anymore but my Mum told me that when I bit her, when I was little, she bit me back and I never did it again!

Can't say I remember the event so it's had no long term lasting ill effect......but also don't know if I would have done the same to my DD if she had bitten me.

She'll get over it, it's not unusual in the slightest. You're doing the right things, carry on

Sympathies as my 5 nearly 6 year old DS has just started using a bite as his mode of defence. He never did so as a toddler when you might have expected it.

Is very embarrassing and at his age he is able to bite quite hard.

Tbh, I am so shocked the best I can come up with is to have a major rant at him. So far he has quit.
