Have you joined the NAGC, they have been an excellent resource for us.
There is also the Gifted board on here.

Isn't there a board on here somewhere for parents of G/T kids?

BlueberryPancake · 25/04/2009 11:24

It's Gifted and Talented, under Education. I'm sure they'd be more help to you there.

G&T board here is mostly p-take fest, NAGC website is pretty quiet from what I can tell.
Must be a bummer for parents.
Kerrymumbles & a few others on mn have highly gifted dc, maybe you could brave a new thread in MN G&T section pinkchez, with specific Qs or issues -- carefully word it if you don't want to be ridiculed, though.
I searched & saw you already had some good f/back on SN board. Link to that thread.

ah darnit, just saw pc did start a g+t thread; search facility on here didnt find it just now .

I replied on the other thread you posted, but I'll put it here as well!
PinkChez- I know of a very active international gifted forum that would be of a great help to you. I saw it mentioned on the NAGC forum. It has been very good so far for us.

i used to be a gifted child (am now a deeply non-gifted adult ) and my parents dragged me to something that i think still exists called the Explorers - is run by NAGC - sort of activity clubs for gifted kids. not academic stuff (or at least ours wasnt), a lot of outdoors stuff, but was a way to socialise with other kids in same situation. not sure what it is you are after but would allow you to meet other parents in the same situation and your son to meet other kids with whom he has something in common and relax.

thanks for the advice regarding the explorers, i have found little through the NAGC in my area, but i'll contact them again,

Anyone know of a social group for G and T kids (mine's a 9 yr old boy) in West London? He goes to a local state school and likes all the normal boy things, but has a brain that goes a mile a minute! Vicging

Pinkchez Hi. I remember you from a while back ... at that time I think you got a bit of a hard time on here ? Are you trying to set up an on-line forum group ?

englishpatient · 15/10/2009 12:44

Pinkchez, do you mean a group to meet in real life, or online?

If rl, whereabouts are you?

We are NAGC members and I can give you a bit more info if interested.

englishpatient · 15/10/2009 12:46

Vicging, we're not near London, but if you contact NAGC they can tell you about local groups - better to ring them as their website does not list everything (or didn't when I last searched!).

vicging · 06/12/2009 22:42

hi, i am looking for similar for my 9 yr old boy. where are you based? Victoria x
