Normal for 9mo to always wake up crying?

Probably a silly question, but my daughter always wakes up crying, no matter how well rested she is. Is it normal for a baby to start bawling the second she wakes up?

She also often cries in her sleep. Makes me wonder if she has a traumatic dream world.

Thanks Tommy! It seems like

I always thought that it was because she was hungry/thirsty, but she still cries even when she's not interested in her bottle.

My ds is still likely to cry after a nap (21 months) , I think he just has trouble waking up and just feels generally groggy and cranky. He used to wake every morning screaming too but this has stopped since he turned 18 months. He now wakes up singing 'bob the builder' to himself which is far nicer!

My friend's 3 year old still wakes up crying so I think it is pretty common. Someone once told me it's cos their blood sugar dips during sleep so they feel strange and moody, try a snack like rasins or a biscuit, maybe that would help. It didn't work with my ds but it might work for you!

I feel like crying when I wake up sometimes - normally "when will I ever have a decent night's sleep again?????"
