Has anyone else's toddler used razor on face?
I caught my daughter age 2yrs 7mnths with razor on her cheek. If she shaved some hair, I hope it doesn't grow out darker or thicker anytime in the future? Please let me know if you know anything about this.

I can't imagine it would do anything to her facial hair.

And to be honest, that's the last thing I'd be worrying about.

paolosgirl · 23/04/2009 21:28

No, it won't grow in thicker or darker, so don't worry!

My two eldest DC's shaved with Dh's razor when they were very little (without us knowing, obviously!) - it was like a bloodbath

how on earth did you manage to do that>?

not face but DD2 cut her legs to ribbons once. much closer bathtime supervison after that. in my defence she was about 7 and really did want to shave her legs. i talked her into waiting a few years.

My DD copied her dad at about 2 and a half and shaved her "moustache" off - quite a lot of blood but no serious damage done - she loves us telling her this story (she's now 7).

I can't believe how many people leave razors within their DC's reach ...well, I am a 'worst case scenario' type of person.....

Ils · 23/04/2009 22:52

Just want to say that I'm always putting dangerous stuff away, so I'm very disgusted that this happened to my child, but if your husband is leaving dangerious things lying around, you don't always see, and, needless to say, its difficult enough watching a toddler, never mind watching a husband too!

Washersaurus I constantly move DH's razor - after 6 years he has finally started putting it back on out-of-reach shelf himself (mostly) - but even so I have caught DD on the point of picking it up.

Washersaurus · 23/04/2009 23:04

I wasn't trying to make anyone feel guilty; just amazed that so many children have access to razor blades. To me it is on the same risk level as leaving the scissors out, or a carving knife, or a bottle of bleach, pack of aspirins.....all of which my DH has done at some point in the past btw

I am going to show this thread to my DP and hope that he will use it to remind him to stop leaving his razor on the side of the sink each morning. I get up almost every day to put it out of reach of DD.

He does manage to put the toilet seat down so he should be able to learn to put his razor out of reach, surely!

You got exactly the same answers yesterday in your first ever post, Ils.

Are you really worried about safety, or do you have some other concerns? Also, really, how would a toddler cut facial fluff without slashing her face?

What is fascinating you about this I wonder?
