Hi, my dd is nearly 11 months old, she is bright and alert and content, so far so good.

Just a bit concerned about her development, she cannot stand even with support her legs just sort of collapse underneath her, she dosent crawl but can get arround the room by sort of swiveling (sp) about on her bottom, I have seen her roll both ways but only a couple of times and she will only tolerate going on her front for short periods of time

She dosent point or clap hands.

Was trying my best not too worry but the closer she gets too one year I do wonder should I have her checked out?

Sounds fine.

Sorry, sounded dismissive, in a rush.

Absolutely sounds fine.

Know it's easy to worry and compare, but not abnormal at all.

thankyou soh, went to a baby group (first time) the other day and my dd didnt seem able to do as much as the other babies of her age and younger there, so got me too worrying.......

My ds was walking at 10 months, my friends ds wasn't weight bearing until 13 months, at 14 months he's only just starting to cruise. I think there's just about every permutation in between too.

On the other hand, ds couldn't clap for aaages. I was beginning to think he'd be a terrible driver as his spatial skills were so poor. He's caught up now and can clap perfectly. One day something just clicked I guess.

Hi, don't have first hand experience with my own, by my DH was a bum shuffler and didn't walk until 15 months, his older brother didn't walk until 19 months.

I know it will be different to a lot of the babies you know, but these are both strapping blokes who went on to be very sporty at school so no issues, just came later to the party!!

TotalChaos · 23/04/2009 13:52

don't worry about pointing it's a 12-18 month age range skill, so need to worry unless she's still not pointing at 18 months! have a chat to the HV about it all, but at this age they honestly do sometimes acquire new skills seemingly overnight!

flourybaps · 23/04/2009 14:24

thanks for the replys, out of my friends my dd is the youngest by at least a year so have never really had anyone to 'compare' her too. Then we went to baby group and I thought oh dear.......

There have been a few niggling worrys, I couldnt do BLW with her as she never picked anything up to put in her mouth and it has taken lots of encouragement for her to eat finger food. She can eat some now, toast, crumpets, broccoli etc but her aim isnt great! She cant manage to drink out of her cup yet either.

To put her thumb in her mouth she sort of puts her hand to her cheek and then drags her along her cheek to her mouth to find it, not sure if im being clear!

Anyway, thanks again and Ill prob take her to be checked over by the HV next week.

Just wondering - did she have her 8/9 month check with the HV? I'm sure anything worrying would have been picked up then.

flourybaps · 23/04/2009 14:45

Hiya, yes she did have her check, she had it early she was 7.5 months, she just said I had to try and encourage her with finger foods and standing, lots of tummy time etc, didnt make a big deal of it tbh.
