DS1 (2.9) being over-boisterous with his 5mo brother....help!

DS1 is constantly pulling, sitting on, dragging his baby brother. He has been like this pretty much since he was born and we are at a loss as to how to stop it.

I cannot be in the room with them all the time, and even if I took DS2 with me to do whatever job I need to do (such as make his bottle etc) DS1 would only follow and some jobs need 2 hands.

I came back in tonight after making DS2's bottle to find DS1 sat on DS2 straddling him. When I told him to get off, he then started trying to do headstands next to him and fell over - if I hadn't been there to stop him, he would have fallen on DS2. I am to say that I lost it a bit and really shouted at DS1 - mainly out of frustration as I am just so fed up of telling him to 'play gently' 'play nicely' etc.

Part of the problem is that DS2 actually enjoys a lot of the rough play and will giggle like mad whilst DS1 is doing it....but he always takes it too far and the end result is always tears.

Any suggestions (apart from keeping them in seperate rooms permanently for the next 7 years

My dd can be a bit like this with her, tbh, fairly robust baby brother. She used to ride him 'like a horsey'

We have tried (with quite a bit of success) to teach dd to listen and watch ds's reaction. So if he cries/moans then he doesn't like it...

But honestly? I think it will just be like this for the next 7 years

Have you got a travel cot you coud put baby in whilst you
have to be out of room/doing chores?

Um thanks for making me realise that I am not alone! I went to a MN meet-up yesterday and one of them, whose DD is quite rough with her DS, was at how rough DS1 is with DS2.

Miss we did use a travel cot until DS2 was about 4 months - DS1 seemed to have got better and it became a bit safer to have DS2 on the floor....so we removed the travel cot a few weeks ago. DS1 seems to have gone backwards though this last week and I don't really want to clutter up the lounge get it out again - although obviously if it continues, I guess I will have to. DS2 had also started screaming every time we put him in it as he likes to be in the 'thick of things'.
