Help 9 month old DS v thin since starting to crawl!

hi, DS is just 9 months, is almost exclusively bf and on 3 meals a day plus snacks as and when needed. He's been crawling since 8 months, and pulling up to stand and starting to furniture walk in the past 2 weeks.

He's always been on the 50th centile but at his last weighing (2 weeks ago) was below the 25th. He is still looking fairly thin, although he is a long baby. The HV just advised to add in a snack and said it wasn't a concern because he's so active - even when he's not crawling he's wriggling or kicking his legs.

Do I need to worry about this or will it sort itself out? I was wondering about giving him more calorie-rich foods like cheese. He eats reasonably well but mostly has chicken/veg with pasta or rice which is fairly low in fat etc.

i think their weight gain often slows down when they start crawling and walking, dds did. give cheese as a snack and full fat milk on his cereal but otherwise i think it sounds normal.

dd was born on the 25th centile but quickly dropped to the 2nd and stayed there, she is very thin, always has been, but she is active, energetic, healthy and happy so i dont try and force er to gain weight, it is just how she is.
She is 21 months and weighs 20lb ish but she is fine.
I just hope they dont start worrying at the 2 year check.

Babies need fat calories so cheese is good. As is a bit of greek yoghurt with his fruit (yum) and avocados? Butter in his mashed potatoes? Grated cheddar on his veg.

Not a diet for a sedentary adult but OK for a while to boost the calorie intake for "thin as a whippet" baby on the move!

Healthier fats are olive or flaxeed oils in the mash and on toast.

I add a big dollop of tahini into DS's breakfast (excellent source of calcium and protein too)

Avocado as stated by gagarin.

Quineoa is packed with nutrients and healthy fats... a super super-food!

Personaly I don't give my DS (8month) any butter, cheese or dairy other than the occasional egg (why is egg considered dairy? ) but he has three 8oz bottles of formula along with three meals a day and I think that is more than enough dairy.
