What is the best potty for a boy?

As ds approaches 2 we are starting to think about potty training. Boys and girls obviously have different 'equipment' down below, so what in your experience is the best type of potty for a boy? I'd like to have a suitable potty ready for when he shows a readiness for using one.

For boys you definitely need one with a bit that sticks up to the front and you have to teach them to sit so that they are pointing downwards. We have a curver 'throne' which has suited both ds's and dd. It is quite a large model, nicley rounded and seems fairly comfortable. I think they are still available from mothercare but they are rather expensive. Ikea do a potty with a front bit on and it costs less than £1 (or used to) but it is very small and may not be big enough for later sitters.

Just to second PamT, definately go for one with the bit at the front. We had an Anyway-up round potty at first (no bit at front) and it was close to useless, not bad as he got older and knew to push his willy down into it. We had the IKEA ones, great as they are so cheap you can buy a few and dot them round the house. HTH.

Sorry, Demented and PamT, I meant to thank you for your help but we went on hol and I forgot about this thread. I have seen those bargain potties in the Ikea catalogue, but it's a bit of a trek to our nearest and I don't think dh wants me let loose in an Ikea as he is out of work at the mo

According to most women any recepticle males use should be about 8 feet wide with a target painted on it so they have some chance of hitting the right bit of the room.

Seriously though the ones with the bump at the front look much better than those that don't for boys.

One thing I would suggest is possibly putting down a bit of plastic sheeting first.

DS has a toys r us one with a bump at the front but regularly misses and also doesn't always sit quite straight on it. Am going to start trying SH's idea.
