Advice on getting One year old of the bottle!

My DD is one and has one bottle feed before bed. She drinks all liquids during the day in a cup confidantly however we have decided the time has come to replace the bedtime bottle with a cup. She is fine until she realises it is not coming in the form of a bottle!!! She crys and eventually excepts it from the cup. We are only two days in but I am determined to see it through.
Any tips???

tbh they give it up in their own good time
I tried with my lo at 18 months and she was really upset
so I waited until she was 2 and a half and she's fine now
they're only little for such a short time and one bottle a day doesn't harm them

Totally agree compo, enjoy them being babies for as long as they want to be one! 1 Bottle is nothing to worry about.

i agree with compo. DS1 is nearly 19mths and he only has one bottle of milk a day at bedtime but its part of his routine and he gets upset without it.

IMO a 1yr old is still a baby. i hope to still be breastfeeding DS2 at 1yr so i dont see why a LO cannot have a bottle at that age if they want it.

I did the same thing at 13 months. Our difficult one was the morning one. I'd say, just keep going - my DS was really cross about it for 3 days. Day 4 or 5 it was as if he'd never had a bottle. Same with a friend who gave up breastfeeding at the same age. Allow for a week but I'd say keep going as you are.
If you don't already, maybe try doing the milk at the same time as the story so she's a bit disctracted?
Good luck.

If she drinks the milk after being a bit upset, then persevere...if she doesnt then she is not ready....give her more time.

I think ds1 was 13 months when we gave him milk in a cup (had been drinking water for months in a cup though) and no probs...just chugged away! ds2 only 6 months so we'll see......

Thanks Shylily
DD has never had a dummy and I didn't realise that she was using the bedtime bottle as a big comforter until we took it away. She only had 2oz last night and slept right through so she doesn't need the milk just the teat!
I will perservre (sp) if she hadn't slept through I might have rethought it for now x

becaroo - she does take it once she's calmed down but not as much as in the bottle but I am guessing this will increase as she gets used to the new routine.
