My dd is 10 weeks old and seems to be showing signs of teething, she is dribbling lots, sucking on her hand and yesterday, she burst into tears a few times for no apparent reason, this is not like her

Could be. My dd1 didn't get her first tooth til she was over 10 months old and then dd2 came along and surprised us all by cutting 2 teeth at 3 months old. She was definitely teething by 10 weeks. Your dd has the very same symptoms as dd2 at 10 weeks. Poor little thing is 5 months now and suffering again.

psychomum5 · 13/04/2009 09:28

very possible, but that doesn;t mean that she is getting the teeth now, just that they are moving about in her gums.

mine all started 'teething' very early (8wks IIRC with DD3), but all got teeth from 7mths........DS2 was 12mths!

my ds cut his first tooth at 5 months but I don't remember him being like dd is at the moment. Did you give yours anything to help? I don't think she will grasp a teething ring just yet.

Entirely possible, both of mine had teeth by 3-4 months and the teething started after 10-11 weeks.
Early teeth is genetic apparently and all of DH's family were early teethers, his dad was born with teeth

My DS got tooth one at 12 weeks and it startd a few weeks before that. HV told me he was just hungry/tired not teething. Was very shocked when I proved her wrong.

Is it ok to use bonjela or calgel this young? did any of you use it?

My DD started teething at 8 weeks, we've been using dentinox gel which says you can use it from birth - calgel says from 3 months on it but i think it has the same stuff in it anyway!

MoreLikeMiranda · 13/04/2009 16:35

yes absolutely.

my ds started teething at 13 weeks and cut the first tooth at 17weeks. He is now 8months and has 7 teeth.

Stock up on Dentinox and Nelsons teething powder asap!

asteamedpoater · 13/04/2009 17:12

Teething at 10 weeks is entirely possible. My ds started teething around then, got all his baby teeth exceptionally early and started getting his adult teeth at 4 years old...

KaylaC · 13/04/2009 17:35

My goodness - adult teeth at 4, bless him!

Thank you all - I'll go and get her some gel

DD started at about 12 weeks and the first teeth came at 20 and 22 weeks. Gel didn't work but Calpol helped.

Yes. Entirely possible. Nelson's powders or Boots own, both homeopathic so can be given at same time as Calgel. And yes, they DO soothe baby!!

JackBauerKilledTheEasterBunny · 13/04/2009 18:39

Ooh yes, Nelson's powders and Anbesol teething liquid.
Genius inventions.
