Dislocating joints in a two year old - is this common?

My DS is 2 and in the last month has dislocated his elbow (night down A&E till they popped it back in) and his wrist (which popped back in nearly straight away of it's own accord). Is this normal or do I have a weakly-jointed son? The elbow was done by him swinging off his arm as I held his hand and the wrist was done by falling on it awkwardly. Both time produced many tears till it was back in and then he was absolutely fine again. Do I need to worry? Or just get him checked out the next time we're down the doctors?

My friends daughter has this, there is a name for it but I forget . She seems to have grown out of it. It was just her elbow it happened to. I think it's because the socket isn't fully formed so the joint slips out of it. ...

Pulled elbow is very very common. DS1 was in A&E with this every couple of months from about 18mths until he was almost 4 (last time he did it was playing in Nursery) He hasn't had any problems with it since, and he's now 11. I actually had the same problem as a child, although my muscles didn't strengthen enough to prevent it until I was almost 8. We have a history of hypermoblilty though - excessively flexible joints (I can do freaky bending things with my fingers as can DS1)

I really wouldn't worry too much about it - he will grow out of it as he develops more muscle strength. Just be aware of it and don't pull or tug or swing him just by his arms.
