DS4 - I have to say things in a certain way to satisfy him

Is this normal or is it a boy thing? He always seems to need reafirmation of everything. E.g.

DS - Is that a hippo?
Me - No it's an elephant?
DS - So it's not a hippo?
Me - No it's not a hippo?
DS - Is it an elephant?
Me - Yes, it's an elephant

DS - Are we going to the park today?
Me - Not today but we'll go tomorrow
DS - But are we going today?
Me - No we'll go tomorrow
DS - So we're not going today?
Me - No we're not going today

Also, I know there is fussy eating but if I make pasta he loves it. If I chop up some smoked sausage, he loves it, if I sprinkle the sausage on top of the pasta he throws a wobbly and all the bits have to be picked off.

I'm probably just worried about nothing but his sis was never like this and it just takes sooooooooo long to get a point across.

How old? My DS can be a right fuss pot.

EffiePerine · 06/04/2009 22:35

How old? The verbal thing is a lot like DS (he's 2.6)

DS1 is nearly 5 and we have similar conversations bloody frustrating but I think not an indication of special needs.

Not a boy thing, DD1 (3.2) is exactly the same. Sometimes I feel like recording myself and playing it back at her through the day!
She rfeused to eat her tea as she tipped her yoghurt (which she loves) over her plums(which she loves) and then couldn't eat the plums as they were wet

He was 4 in January.

Does he say things in a certain way too?
For example if you ask him 'Would you like a drink?' would he say 'yes please' or would he have to say the whole sentence 'Yes, I'd like a drink please' etc?

BiscuitStuffer · 07/04/2009 09:13

DH is like this when he's in a mood and feeling ungracious towards me.....drives me crazy.

VoluptuaGoodshag · 07/04/2009 19:49

No he'd just say 'yes please'.
