I have a 14 month old dd, she was a terrible sleeper as a little one but for the last 6 months or so she's been fab, going down at 7 without a peep and sleeping through until 5.30 - 6am. Nothing to complain about there!
She had a bad patch of teething when she was about 8 months old and would be up a lot in the night and take anything up to 2 hours to resettle but tbh she wasn't great at self settling then anyway and often needed me to bf her to sleep, which has since changed.
This week has been a nightmare. She's been up for at least 2 hours each night - I think it must be her teeth as I can feel hard lumps under the gums at the back but she doesn't let me in to have a feel for very long so difficult to know exactly what's happening in there! All this week, the only way to settle her has been to get her up, stick on some calgel, give her calpol if it's time to and then let her read a book/potter around for 10 mins, put her down, she seems to crash out and then 5 mins later is crying again, I presume it's her teeth hurting, so repeat the process until eventually she does actually stay asleep. A bit of a pain but not too bad. But last night was a whole different story - she was up at 12, was so hysterical by 3 that DH took her out in the car for an hour and a half, during which she slept. We thought she may be calmer then and able to settle in her cot but again went ballistic when we put her in it and again at 6am when I tried again. She is obviously exhausted but just won't have it.
I'm now in a panic that I won't be able to settle her in her cot anymore. I don't want to leave her to cry as I think she's in pain. But could it be more than teething - ear infection??
She's also dropped down to one nap a day this week which has been a bit hit and miss so she's already tired from that.
And I'm 7 weeks pregnant and not feeling up to dealing with all of this right now..
So, any advice? Just stick with it and it will pass?
