Does anyone know what may trigger this. We are not overly strict, but talk about rights and wrongs in a simple way. It seems to happen when I have asked him to stop doing something e.g. pouring juice on the floor, banging cupboard doors, general things. Should i be concerned or am I just being neurotic?

....completly ignore it- really look the other way, if you give it any attention (even saying dont do it/ why do it ect) it will continue, my guess is it will pass. think its quite common

Agree with loulou, it's a form of tantrum. Ignore and he'll be less likely to do it. If it carries on for a long time, or gets more serious (more than a couple of months) I suggest you teach him how to deal with his anger in a more positive way (punching a cushion helps!)

Good luck, 2yr olds are testing to say the least!

Thanks. Reading your comments,I think i have noticed it too much. Will tell DH and will ignore. DS doesn't have many tantrums, or they are very short lived, so many they are just in a different form. Your posts are reassuring, thanks.
