Really didnt no where to post this, so if you think it should be somewhere else let me know!! I am looking to buy ds a trike today for his 2nd birthday, does anyone have any recommendations??Willing to spend up to abot £50, but want it to last more than a year ideally, most of the ones I have seen are up to 3 years, is this because children revert to a bike at this age?, I really have no idea at what age they learn to peddle. I did get him a trike for his 1st bday but although it cost £60 from argos it was rubbish reaally stiff and impossible to monouver using the parent handle, so I dont want to waste my money on another rubbish one, so reccommendations please???

Hi

We got ds1 a Puky trike when he was about 18 months and it's still going strong a year and a half later and will be ok for ds2 to use. You can find them on Amazon. Ds1 is 3 and he still doesn't peddle.

We got DS a wooden LikeaBike second-hand, so it was £80 instead of about £130. That is expensive but have a look out on eBay. They are AMAZING - no pedals and way cooler and more fun than scooters. It has saved our backs and saved me from the dreaded BuggyBoard (which we have and have now abandoned). Apparently the transition to pedals is immediate with these bikes, and they really learn balance etc. We have even taken ours on holiday and it has been fab.

Don't waste your money on a trike, they are noisey, heavy and bulky.

We got an Islabike Rothan, similar to the likeabikes. Its a trainer bike so has no pedals and they scoot along, when they're ready they lift their feet off the ground and whizz along gettng the balance so that when they progress on to big bikes they shouldn't need the stabilisers.

They are more expensive than you were looking to pay (DH was put off by the price and did try to put his foot down, however I put my foot down more!!! and he admitted that it was fab) about £75 but well worth every penny, I think they have a good resale value too.
