2.5 ds has started acting like a baby - normal?

Can any one shed any light on the recent behaviour of my ds. He has started sucking his thumb nearly constantly and wanting to be held like a baby. He even tells me he is being a baby. He stopped using a dummy when he was about 5mths old and has never used any form of comfort until recently.

The isn't a new baby and I cannot think of any stressful situations that have occured to him.

I am not bothered by the thumb sucking but by the change in his behaviour.

Any ideas would be much appreciated

Should mention that he has started swearing as well and in the right context. We are at loss to know where that is coming from as well

perfectly normal . They all revert back to being babies at some point for a while. Typical toddler behaviour.

DS does go to a nursery one day a week. I spoke with the manager to make them aware of what he was doing but they are insistant that no other children have done this recently.

He did stay with my inlaws recently but am fairly sure it didn't come from them. This is what makes it so puzzling.

It was p* off by the way, I mean who uses that these days. He recently got some gold fish so intitally thought I had misheard him but am sure about what he is saying. As he uses it when he is being told off or doesn't want to do something

Thank you both for your replies - hoping it is a phase and will pass
