pillows and duvets for 16 month old?

My dd is perfectly happy in her sleeping bag in her cot, but I was wondering was I depriving her of extra comfort by not putting a pillow in her cot. I haven't done so far because of all the SIDS advice, but how long do those instructions apply? When is a child old enough for 'normal' bed clothes?

DD is 23 months and has been in her own bed since 11 months (although she co-sleeps more often than not at the moment). She does not have a pillow. Sometimes in our bed she will fall asleep on our pillows but will fairly quickly wriggle off them to settle down. Do you have any reason to thinks your DD would like one?

Ds has been in a toddler ben from 13 months and has a duvet and pillow but he's a big wriggler so doen't stay on the pillow but settles on it to sleep.

He was a co-sleeper untill he had his own bed. Would never settle in a cot but settled just fine in his own bed with duvet and pillow, i think it was because he felt secure because he was used to duvet and pillow in our bed.

duvets and pillows are ok from 1 year. DS actually had a goi goi pillow from a few weeks old to help prevent flattening of his head. He was in a sleeping bag up till he was about 2.3years

DS will be 3 in June he has had a pillow and a duvet since he was a year old, He loves his pillow sleeps so much better with it than he ever did without.

And would recommend getting a single bed duvet and tucking under sides as cot quilts just go everywhere and cotbed duvets are SO expensive.

I found cot bed duvets and pillows really hard to find so like mamadiva, just used singles and just took a few feet of of the length of the duvet (head end not popper end). A bit off of the length of the pillow as the case was huge for a toddler pillow. Took only a few minutes and overlocked the seems to prevent fraying. Left the width as it was as it allowed extra material for tucking under the matress.

DS1 is 5 and stil lhardly ever sleeps on his pillow. THey are really not necessary for such young children. If she loves the grobag continue with it as long as you can
