ADVICE - PLEASE! BABY POOS IN BATH!

Honestly - this is not a joke: my dd (11 months) has taken to pooing in her evening bath, and if I'm not quick enough, even gets it in her mouth!!! It's not every night, but most nights, and the time varies, as I have tried waiting for her to do a nappy first without success. I can't bath her in the morning as I have three other older children and its just too busy. Also the bath is part of her sleep routine. I think she just likes letting go in the water, but I'm not sure. Has anyone else experienced this, and anyone got any ideas? Maybe she'll grow out of it? In the meantime, DH keeps ducking bath time: it's like playing Russian Roulette!

My nephew did this for quite a while, I do think they do it then as they relax.... they do grow out of it I can assure you

Two of mine did this - what fun! I agree, I think it's triggered by them relaxing in the warm water. I've heard a tip since that I wish I'd had at the time - keep an old and/or cheap sieve handy by the bath, so you can quickly scoop out the result thus preventing her playing with it. HTH!

mine did this too must be more common than I thought. As suedonim said I used to keep a sieve next to the bath and not put as many bath toys in.He used to bath with his brother it used to stress me out big time.I can laugh about it now he has grown out of it but you have my sympathy.

My dd did this Gilli, I was horrified but no matter what I tried she did it every time. I was really concerend about taking her swimming as I thought she'd do the same thing in the pool, but my cousin said oh but they don't, I thought yeah right but she'll do it in the bath with no qualms. So we braved the swimming pool and she didn't poo. However she did still poo in the bath, aagghhh. It was only for a little while and eventually stopped, I put it down to a phase she was going through. I must remember when I have baby#2 to keep an old sieve handy sue, that is a great tip, we used to try and chase them with an old plastic cup, lol which was a nightmare. I never thought of using an old sieve, must have had mummy brain

Thank goodness I'm not alone, after all........suedonim, that's a great tip about the sieve as yes, I was chasing round the bath tonight with a mug (how sad!) and making matters worse and worse. You'va all said she'll grow out of it, which is good news; any idea what age'ish?

Thanks for all the support, by the way!

Sorry, ladies, I just had to giggle at the thoguht of you all chasing 'you-know-whats' around the bath with a mug - BTDT myself, so it's a laugh of sympathy. As I say, I wish I'd heard of the sieve tip at the time but I'm glad it helps someone else. Isn't the worst bit, though, when you have to admit defeat and let the bathwater out and some of it won't go down the plughole?? DH recommends those extra long matches as the ideal implement for poking it all down!! Eeuuuw!

I'm afraid I use a green plastic boat which is one of ds's bath toys !!!! I do clean it afterwards of course
