My DS is 4 in June and whilst he didn't start talking til he was 2 years old he has caught up well and has a very good vocab now and most people can understand him fine. However! Apart from normal things like dropping his l's we find that when he talks he sometimes dribbles a bit when talking or sprays a bit!! Just wondered if this is normal and if so is it down to lack of muscle control and when is he likely to grow out of it?!

does he have enlarged tonsils?
that can make a child spit and dribble

hello Barmymummy. My DD very much the same. she now 4, walked at 19 months but good vocabulary. We were concerned with her excess dribbling/slobbering and Hv referred her to speech and language therapist. They felt that it was during her "concentration" spells that she almost forgot to swallow. They gave me exercised called "Mr Tongue" and various others which involved strengthening facial muscles and the tongue. Also blowing games (blow football, blow painting etc) this has helped. Her follow up they said if she is dribbling get her to touch her chin so she becomes aware of it and encourage her to dab chin with tissue.
She fine now, occasional small dribbles when concentrating! hope this helps
