Or is it just mine?

I'm losing patience.

Soon I may start slowly baning my head against a wall.

My 2.5 year old does and according to a friend her 2.5 year old girl is the same. It does drive me absolutely potty. Somehow DH can ignore it, I find the constant whinge like nails down a black board, it is flamin annoying. You have my sympathy.

PinkBubblesGoApe · 20/03/2009 20:07

Mine is still doing it and she's almost 5!
To her credit, its usually only when she's tired/hungry/both. But I agree totally with nails down a blackboard, ugh.

gingerninja · 20/03/2009 20:09

5? [wails] please god no

Chatkins · 20/03/2009 20:09

DD1 at age 3 was a nightmare - one summer in particualr I swear to god all she did was whinge and whine and cry and generally irritate me beyond belief.

I think it was my payback though, as she never really did toddler tantrums. But at 3, nothing was ever right, nothing was ever good enough, every little tiny thing caused an outburst....

She's 6 now and lovely ! Never whinges!

hazeyjane · 20/03/2009 20:09

My 3 year old dd whinges a lot, and is copied by her 22 months old sister, I find myself trying so hard to be patient and ignore it, that by 5 o clock (9 am on a bad day) I'm like a volcano ready to blow!

CompareTheMeerkat · 20/03/2009 20:09

DD is 3.5 and has whining phases...

PinkBubblesGoApe · 20/03/2009 20:12

Chatkins, you give me hope...

hazeyjane · 20/03/2009 20:13

Oh and never, ever say

'Aaagh mummy's head is going to pop, if you don't stop whinging'

because then you will have dc following you around asking 'mummy is your head going to pop?' over and over again (with dd2 making popping sound with finger), until , well your head feels like it is going to pop.

Kathyis6incheshigh · 20/03/2009 20:13

I read the thread title out to dh and he said 'Yes' in a heartfelt way.

littleducks · 20/03/2009 20:13

DD is 2.10 and does this alot, i have now started warning her that whingy children go to bed as they must be tired if they are whinging, works 80% of the time

She is very quick to tell me to put ds (11 mths) to bed as he is whinging, in fact i caught her once deliberately poking him to make him whinge so i would put him down for a nap as she wanted to do painting which i allow when ds is napping

gingerninja · 20/03/2009 20:14

We get the 'no, no, no, no (repeat)' with escalating volume and whingyness about everything. This morning it was 'no, no, no, no bike, no bike' and then mild hysteria followed by calm once she'd resolved the problem. I find it a total emotional roller coaster.

PinkBubblesGoApe · 20/03/2009 20:16

Lol at 'is your head going to pop'

loler · 20/03/2009 20:19

Could be worse could be a nearly 4 yr old ds. I thought could go some but ds1 is a master!

Have spent the day with 3 boys and we all agreed that they were much worse than their sisters!

dd is now 5 and she has stopped whinging so much and has started full on teenage stropping.

DC don't you just love them?

SheSellsSeashellsByTheSeashore · 20/03/2009 20:21

Was just about post what loler did but she beat me to it.

My five year old dd1 is currently 'not my friend' and 'it's not fair' that she can't find the toy she wants.

Of course it's my fault . And she is not speaking to me again untill it is found.

Suits me fine

PinkBubblesGoApe · 20/03/2009 20:29

How about the drama over choosing clothes? DS just puts on whatever I hand him.

LynetteScavo · 20/03/2009 20:36

She's nearly asleep.

Please God don't let her whinge again at 6am!

Combined with a 10yo DS who is in full teenager mode the weekend may just prove to be too much for me.

PinkBubblesGoApe · 20/03/2009 20:42

Good luck LS! I Hope you have two angels all weekend!!

loler · 20/03/2009 21:15

My ds is very picky about his clothes - dd has a favourite couple of outfits and as long as they are clean (strop if not!) everything is rosey.

DS1 loves summer clothes and can't understand why I won't let him wear shorts and crocs in the snow. Have been know to shout after constant whinging from 7am til school pick up (8 hours later!) JUST WEAR THEM THEN! Maybe it's not gender specific but birth order specific?

The only time he's not whinging is when he's asleep, which he does as soon as his head hits the pillow as he's so tired from whinging!

JackBauer · 20/03/2009 21:25

Oh god, so it's not just mine?
DD1 (3.1) has just started nursery in teh afternoons and she just doesn't stop with the 'Mummy can I....Mummy, I want......Mummy, I need......Mummy? Mummy? Mummy? Mummy?'

and the constant frigging updates of what DD2 is doing ' She touched this...she climbed on that...she wants this, she can't have it can she mummy?'

PinkBubblesGoApe · 20/03/2009 21:25

loler, I don't think its necessarily gender specific (my brother was waaaay more picky than I was as a child - still is!), but somehow in our house we ended up with a real 'pretty princess' DD... I was a proper tomboy and always thought I'd have a daughter like me. However I have hopes for the future as she claims she wants to be a 'jungle vet' when she grows up
