loving all the gorgeous LO pics

DS seems to have inherited my eyes - they look just the same.

him
me

so i hope they stay. there is a lot of blue on both sides of the family, although my brother had the most amazing hazel eyes that could look everything from deep green to very brown.

My eyes are changeable as well - they are grey but can look bluer or greener depending on all sorts of things, including what eye makeup I'm wearing, the weather, how I'm feeling etc.

DH has green eyes and currently DS's are predominantly blue but they are heading slowly more greywards (sometimes - others they are bright blue still! Changeable like mine).

In my fanciful moments, I say that I have sea-coloured eyes - DS has sky-coloured eyes.

Dh has lovely deep brown eyes. I have what are I think usually called hazel eyes, in that they vary from brown to green (brown in the middle, green at the outside). Both children were born with blue eyes, ds's darkened fairly fast to deep brown like his dad, whilst dd's took a lot longer - there are photos of her with blue eyes well into toddler time. Then her eyes gradually turned a green/brown much like mine. Recently ds's eyes changed from being deep brown all over to getting a lighter brown in the middle, so the same look as mine, but a different colour. He is coming up 10, so it's not fixed for a long time.

ds looks very like both me and his father (if people meet me and him they say we look alike, and if people met him with his dad they say they look very alike!) dd didn't look like anyone in the family for a long time, and then I noticed a few pictures where she looked very very like her cousin. Which is strange as people always said he was very very like his dad (my BIL). Now she looks much more like me (she's eight). So lots can change!

nooka, that's interesting about your DD - my DS is a good mix of me and my DH, but he has my Nan's eyes (not literally obviously!) and because of this, and his present colouring (blond and blue eyes) he looks ever so like my sis's elder DD (who also has my Nan's eyes).

But a lot of it is in the expressions - when he looks all mischievous, he looks just like DNc1 - when he looks surprised or open mouth laughing, he looks very like DNc2!

And we have the same thing about people saying "doesn't he look like his mum/dad" depending on who he is with at the time and also which of us they know better.

My ds 1 has hazel eyes brown hair and slightly olve skin .Ds 2 has very dark eyes almost black and eyelashes to make girl cry and black hairand gorgeous olive skin . dd has brown hair and greeny/hazel eyesand fairly pale thouygh does tan .Ds 3 has blonde hair and big blue eyes and very milk white skin . and hes 3.8 so think there here to stay .
causes lots of eyebrows to raise when ds 2 and ds 3 are together and i say are brothers

DS 1 and2 dad is italian think hence coulouring DD and ds dad has hazel eyes ,I have red hair and green/blue eyes depending on lightand can make milk bottle looked tanned .Ohand my mum and dad both had brown eyes

DH and I are both dark eyed and have one blue eyed dd. It's a recessive gene, so both DH and I must have the blue gene (which makes sense,as we each have one parent with blue eyes). So statistically, our dd was more likely to have dark eyes, but she obviously inherited the blue gene from us both. It does look particularly attractive with very dark hair!
However, you've a way to go before being sure about eye colour... eldest dd had blue eyes til well over a year and then they changed to deep green.

Oh I agree thumbwitch, my niece really is very very similar to her dad in looks, but in expressions she is so very much my sister's daughter. With dd it was a couple of photographs that showed the resemblance to my nephew, they really are quite striking. I think it might be something to do with the profile and they share similar colouring too. I suspect it is something from my mother's family, but possibly quite recessive, as the looks from my father's side are generally more noticeable.
